Mississauga, Ont.-based Astris Energi Inc. unveiled its 2.4 kW Model EA alkaline fuel cell portable generator for the first time in North America at the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells 2004 Conference and Trade Show Sept. 25-28 in Toronto. The device delivers 48 V DC at 50 amperes and will handle overload of up to 60 amperes. Astris says the generator has a total electric efficiency of more than 50%. Development of the E* was partially funded by the Czech Republic’s Industry and Trade Ministry. The unit was previously demonstrated to Czech experts earlier this year.
