Briefly Noted: Large FC System Survey

In the latest of its series of surveys, the “Fuel Cell Today” Internet portal says a grand total of slightly more than 700 large stationary fuel cell systems - more than 10 kW - have been installed worldwide since the 1970s. This year, sales volume was similar to last year, with a total of more than 50 systems, reports the “Fuel Cell Market Survey: Large Stationary Applications.” The 21-page document dated Oct. 6 says FuelCell Energy has now joined the two industry leaders, UTC and Fuji Electric. Phosphoric acid remains a popular technology, “with both UTC and Fuji Electric showing renewed vigor in their sales,” say authors Alexandra Baker and David Jollie, while FuelCell Energy continues to “vigorously” support molten carbonate.
