Briefly Noted: Quantum's "Aggressor"

Irvine, CA-based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide last month unveiled a high-performance, off-road military hybrid fuel cell vehicle, dubbed the “Aggressor.” Developed jointly with the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive Research and Development Center, it is claimed to be virtually silent, and accelerates much more rapidly than comparable conventional gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicles, capable of 80 mph top speed. Power comes from a 10 kW fuel cell which Quantum didn’t describe in detail. But given Quantum’s alliance ties with General Motors, it appears likely that it’s a GM stack. In the field, the vehicle can be used as a stationary power generator to provide power for communications, surveillance and other needs.
