Medis Technologies, New York, says it expects to start distributing its first fuel cell product, a disposable liquid fuel power pack charger for cell phones, by the end of this year. According to the release, the pack is expected to have a suggested retail price of $14.99 and provide 900 minutes of talk time. Medis chairman Robert K. Lifton is quoted as saying that the disposable device can also be used for charging digital cameras, MP3 music players and other devices. Medis says it is also developing another reusable power pack with a replaceable refueling cartridge as a second-generation product. Contact: Medis, Robert K. Lifton, 212/935-8484.
