Opportunities: NEDO Invites Internat'l Cooperation
Japans New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) is inviting international participation in an international joint research project. The purpose is to conduct advanced, innovative research and development in hydrogen energy by combining know-how of domestic Japanese organizations and of foreign researchers and organizations. The targets address technological challenges in hydrogen production, storage, transport and safe use that require breakthroughs to commercialize fuel cells. The goal is to overcome these challenges and dramatically advance the level of hydrogen utilization in Japan. Interested domestic companies, research associations or public utility corporations should submit a proposal for an international research theme specifying foreign-based researchers and/or organizations to participate in the proposed r&d project. The budget for each theme will be up to Yen 30 million (about $250,000), and the research period will be one year. All proposals must be submitted in Japanese, and they will be accepted between July 12 and July 31, 2004.
NEDO will publish an announcement with detailed information on this project on its website, http://www.nedo.go.jp /. An explanatory meeting will be held July 12, 2004, 14:00 -16:00 in the Tokyo area (exact location has not been decided as yet) to provide information. The meeting will be in Japanese; pre-registration is not required.
