Briefly Noted: New H2 Plants

New hydrogen plants in Ontario and Louisiana: Air Products says its Canadian subsidiary Air Products Canada Ltd. will construct a hydrogen plant for the Sunco Energy Products, Inc., and Shell Canada Products refineries in Sarnia, Ontario. The plant will produce more than 80 million standard cu. ft/day of hydrogen. Based on a natural gas steam reformer, it is expected to be operational in May 2006. In Paris, meanwhile, France’s Technip announces that its US subsidiary, Technip USA Corp. Claremont, CA has been awarded a contract by Air Products for the design, engineering and procurement of a 110 million standard. cu. ft./day plant in Convent, LA, to be built by Air Products. The plant will supply hydrogen to two refineries, Motiva Enterprises LLC and Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC in Convent and Garyville, respectively.
