Mitsubishi Corp. the large Japanese trading company, has set up H3 Energy Lt. as a spinoff venture in Vancouver, BC to develop, manufacture and market high-pressure electolyzers, the company announced. The company is investing Can. $!4 million in the venture that will market the device which the company unveiled four months ago (H&FCL May 04). The commercial version for small-scale industrial applications and hydrogen fueling stations, capable of generating 30 Nm3/hour. is expected to be ready by the end of next year. The new company picked Vancouver as headquarters because it believes the existence of a cluster of companies in the hydrogen/fuel cell business there such as Ballard Power Systems augurs well for success.
