Briefly Noted: Rutgers Report

And in New Jersey, Rutgers University’s Center for Energy, Economic and Environmental Policy (CEEEP), New Brunswick, has issued its first report in which it recommends the state undertake five basic steps to determine whether it’s in New Jersey’s interest to promote hydrogen energy. The underlying message appears to be that it should: “New Jersey could indeed prove fertile ground for leading the commercialization of hydrogen fuel and the required infrastructure,” Rutgers’ release quotes Scott Weiner, CEEEP’s director and a former Ballard executive, as saying. New Jersey’s Board of Public Utilities which together with the Fund for New Jersey paid for the study, has already acted on one of the five recommendations: it is awarding $250,000 to launch a Hydrogen Learning Center at CEEEP, which is part of Rutgers’ Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Contact: Scott Weiner, 732/932-5680, ext. 720.
