Briefly Noted: Toyota Home Fuel Cells

Toyota Motor Corp. announced it plans to provide for the third year in a row home-use fuel cell cogeneration units as part of a government project to verify the practicability of carbon dioxide-reducing stationary fuel cells. With 24 new units added in this third round, Toyota has provided a grand total of 78 units so far. In a separate development, Sekisui House, Japan’s largest home builder will start marketing low-carbon houses which will be 20% more airtight, will feature co-generation fuel cell systems for power and hot water, including energy-saving features such as LED lights, according to a report in Nikkei Shimbun.
