And another fuel cell, to light up the lions in the Bronx: The Wildlife Conservation Society headquartered at the Bronx Zoo will be installing a 200 kW/700,000 Btu natural gas-powered UTC fuel cell power plant as part of the restoration of the zoo’s historic Lion House. The building houses what a Society release said were some of the world’s most exotic, threatened animals, including several lemur species, reptiles and amphibians in its newest “Madagascar!” exhibit of species from one of the most remote corners of the planet. The installation was made possible with financial assistance from the New York Power Authority.
