Briefly Noted: PEMEAS

PEMEAS, the Frankfurt-based developer of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for high temperature PEM fuel cells with manufacturing and r&d operations both in Germany and the United States, has been acquired by BASF Future Business GmbH, Ludwigshafen. No financial details were announced. PEMEAS was founded almost three years ago as a spin-off of the former Hoechst Group’s fuel cell activities, and it currently has about 50 employees (H&FCL June 04, Feb., Aug. 05). BASF Future Business was set up in 2001 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF, one of the world’s leading chemical companies.
