Distributed Energy Systems Corp., Wallingford, CT, announced that Darren R. Jamison, president of its Northern Power Systems subsidiary, is leaving the company to become chief executive officer of Capstone Turbine Corp., Chatsworth, CA, a maker of microturbines. Ambrose L. Schwallie, Distributed Energys CEO, will serve as Northern Powers president on an interim basis while the search is on for a replacement for Jamison. Also, Betsy Anderson, vice president of Northern Powers product operations group, will become the companys acting chief operating officer. She joined Northern Power in 2005 coming from General Motors......Fuel cell developer and producer Plug Power, Inc., Latham, NY has named four executives to key management positions: Jean Nelson, who previously worked for Virbac Corp., has been appointed chief financial officer; Alan Greenberg, a veteran with more than 20 years of global sales experience, has been named vice president of sales; Thomas Hutchison, a 30-year Ford Motor Co. veteran in key engineering positions, was appointed vice president of engineering; and Joseph Millington, a human resources expert with more than 20 years experience at Hewlett Packard and Quantum, was named vice president of human resources........The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Palo Alto, CA has appointed Bryan Hannegan as vice president for environment research and development, effective this month. Hannegan joined EPRI in September as managing director for environment r&d after serving in the White House both on the White House Council on Environmental Quality and as acting Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy (H&FCL Sept. 06)..........Power Air Corp., Livermore, CA, a developer of fuel cell products with emphasis on zinc-air technology, has appointed the first three members of its new technical advisory board. They are Dr. John F. Cooper of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; Dr. Ray Smith, recently retired from Lawrence Livermore; and Dr. Al Sylwester, president and chief technical officer for Nanodex Corp., a developer of lab-on-chip technologies in Albuquerque, NM........Pasadena, CA-based Viaspace, Inc. has promoted Gary Miller to vice president for business development at its subsidiary, Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corp., Previously, Miller was the subsidiarys vice president for Japan business development.......As part of a reorganization, Connecticut Innovations, the Rocky Hill-based quasi-public agency for technology investment and innovation, has named Emily C. Smith as its new chief of staff and managing director of external relations. Previously, Smith was managing director for government & corporate relations. And Charles Moret, who until now was managing Director for marketing and communications, has been named managing director for business development. The group also created several new, as yet unfilled positions, including vice president for technology development and program management and innovation network program director.......HydroGen Corp., Cleveland, OH, a developer of multi-megawatt phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC) power plants, has added three new members to its board of directors: Brian T. McGee most recently was chief financial officer of Lexar Media, Inc., Fremont, CA; Michael E. Basham is executive vice president for Howard Energy Co., a private energy investment firm, Traverse City, MI; and Philip J. Kranenburg is managing director of Kranenburg Capital Management which manages the Kranenburg Fund, San Rafael, CA.
