Briefly Noted: Quantum Orders

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc., has been given another contract to expand its hydrogen vehicle and mobile hydrogen infrastructure programs for the U.S. Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center, Warren, MI. Quantum, of Irvine, CA will complete development of a 2008 Ford Escape Hydrogen Hybrid, incorporating an advanced hydrogen fuel injection system and ultra-lightweight hydrogen storage tanks. The work will be carried out at the company’s development center in Lake Forest, CA. Earlier, in January, Quantum reported it will be supplying hydrogen fuel injectors to Ford for its fleet of 20 i.c.-powered shuttle buses, including three that had been delivered earlier to Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Also in January, Quantum said it had been awarded a contract by Lockheed Martin, Bethesda, MD for new hydrogen and oxygen fuel storage tanks for a regenerative power supply system to be installed in a stratospheric airship. Quantum didn’t provide cost data for any of these contracts.
