Briefly Noted: No H2 Car Taxes in Norway

No car taxes for Norwegian hydrogen cars: Norway’s government has proposed the removal of vehicle taxes - including registration fees and annual taxes - for hydrogen vehicles. As reported in early December by Norway’s Bellona Foundation, the proposal was then under discussion in Norway’s parliament, and only minor formalities were still being discussed. The target date for implementation was January 2005. Bellona claimed the parliamentary move was the result of strong and continuous pressure from the foundation and other NGOs, as well as recommendations from the government’s official working group that had been established earlier to develop a national hydrogen program.
