Briefly Noted: Medis Israel Facility

Medis Technologies Ltd., New York, NY, opened a new 34,000 sq. ft facility Dec. 22 in the Global Park Technology Complex in Lod, Israel, in ceremonies attended by Israel’s president Moshe Katsav. Medis, a developer of direct liquid fuel cell technology, says the new facility provides office and lab space, including pilot manufacturing capabilities. Earlier in the month, Medis announced its fuel cell Power Pack products currently being tested by General Dynamics C4 Systems, Falls Church, VA (H&FCL June 03) have achieved new higher levels of performance, apparently unmatched by other micro fuel cells, the company says. The Power Packs have provided 5 W and 5 V for “many hours” with each refueling, operating in every orientation and without generating discernible heat. The Medis release quoted Chris Marzilli, General Dynamics C4 Systems senior vice president and general manager, as saying that the “early results of the advanced ruggedized PDA Power Pack functional demonstrations are very encouraging..” Contact: Medis, Robert K.
