Briefly Noted: European Hydrogen Ass'n

Six major companies are now members of the European Hydrogen Association (EHA) as a result of changes in the organizations by-laws that permit such direct memberships. Previously, the group, launched in early 2000 (H&FCL Feb. 00), consisted only of six national hydrogen associations from France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Spain. The changes were voted at an extraordinary meeting at the group’s Brussels headquarters in late January. The new corporate members are Air Liquide, Air Products, BOC, Norsk Hydro, the Spanish alternative energy group EHN, and Shell Hydrogen. At the January meeting the association decided to step up its activities and to launch an ambitious program in the coming years, including public awareness campaigns and other programs. Admitting companies with deep pockets is seen as helpful in paying for these programs.“With the support of leading companies, redefined statutes and objectives and new leadership, I am convinced that the EHA will become in the near future a key voice for hydrogen-related matters in Europe,” said EHA chairman Lars Sjunneson.
