Phosphphenanthrene cyclic phosphate is an organic phosphorus
heterocyclic compound. It is a reactive and additive flame
retardant with high thermal stability, oxidation resistance and
excellent water resistance. It is mainly used in polyester fiber,
polyurethane foam, thermosetting tree ester and adhesive. Because
the flame retardant has a phosphorus carbon bond, its flame
retardancy is better than that of ordinary phosphate. Abroad, it
has been widely used in the flame retardancy of plastics, copper
lining, laminate and circuit board for electronic equipment.
1. Reactive flame retardants for epoxy resins.
DOPO reacts with epichlorohydrin and then reacts with hydroquinone.
Especially, epoxy resin is used as insulating material for
electrical appliances and sealing material for semiconductors. It
requires electrical appliances to be insulated, low volatility, low
pollution, and ABS to have good compatibility.
2. Stain preventive agent
ABS, AS, PP, PS, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, alkyd resin,
surfactant heating caused by coloring, polyurethane caused by light
and heat coloring, adding DOPO can prevent coloring.
3. Synthesis of new flame retardants.
DOPO contains active O=P-H bond, which has high additive activity
to olefin, epoxy and carbonyl groups. It can react to produce many
derivatives, and form synergistic flame retardant with nitrogen,
silicon and other elements.
